Pink Petals

Garnier Fructis' new Hair Treats are their first hair masks with 98% of it being naturally derived ingredients. Their product line features four treatments enriched with super fruit extracts: Papaya for Damage Repairing, Avocado for Smoothing, Coconut for Nourishing, Banana for Strengthening, and Goji for Colour Vibrancy. The mask can also be used three different ways: as a hair mask, conditioner, or leave in conditioner.

I received the Damage Repairing Treat with Papaya Extract from Chick Advisor, which has been helping me with my colour damaged hair. It's also helping a lot with moisturizing my dry scalp and hairline issue that I've been having recently.
Garnier Fructis Hair Treats
First of all, this hair mask smells fantastic. There aren't many products out there that smell like papaya, but this one does and I'm so glad that it doesn't smell too artificial and sweet. As for the product, a little goes a long way with this hair mask as I only need about a quarter size each for the ends of my hair, as well as my scalp and hairline. I can't say much about the repairing abilities of the mask, but it is definitely moisturizing which helps a great deal if you have dry or damaged split ends. The great thing about this hair mask is that it can be used on wet, damp, or dry hair, but I found that it works best on damp hair or in the shower.

How do you treat your dry or damaged hair?

The Green Beaver Company is a Canadian company that creates natural bath and skincare products, and I was super excited to test out their Lavender Natural Deodorant ($5.99). This deodorant is a glycerin based deodorant that is free from alcohol, aluminum, ethanol, gluten, GMO, parabens, propylene glycol (PEG), and synthetic fragrances. It is also vegan friendly, cruelty free, biodegradable, and Ecocert certified.
The Green Beaver Company Lavender Natural Deodorant
This is my first time trying a natural deodorant, so I can only compare it to regular drugstore deodorants. When opening the deodorant, the lavender scent is faint yet noticeable, which is a good thing if you are or work in a scent sensitive environment. Upon application, you can definitely tell the difference with the glycerin base because it applies like a freaking dream! There are no clumps or residue left behind on the skin nor on the deodorant itself after application, but I do need a couple swipes (about 5) to get a decent coating to ensure that it'll last all day.

As I mentioned, the lavender scent is pretty faint and won't be noticeable when applied or when sweating. Because of this, I think this deodorant does a great job neutralizing my BO rather than trying to mask it like a regular deodorant would do. I will say though, that this deodorant is effective for everyday use, but it isn't strong enough for the gym or an active day. With that being said, it is my new go-to deodorant for now.

Have you tried natural deodorant and which one is your favourite?

I'm happy to say that I am finally done my undergrad degree! FREEDOM!!!
This means, hopefully, I'll have more time to spend on blogging, and with all my accumulated empties, I thought this would be the best way to start!

Rating Guide:
☆ - All aboard the nope train!
☆☆ - Meh... It's okay
☆☆☆ - YAAASSSSSS!!
Bodycology Moisturizing Body Wash in Cherish the Moment ☆☆☆
This body wash is a great value product with a lovely cherry blossom scent and a full lather.
Cake Beauty Supremely Rich Bath and Shower Froth in It's a Slice ☆
Although the bath and shower froth smelled nice, I found it didn't bubble well so it was kind of a waste to use as a bubble bath so I used it as a body wash instead. As a body wash, it still didn't lather well and the scent washed away pretty quickly. Based on this, I wouldn't repurchase it.
Live Clean Shampoo & Conditioner in Exotic Vitality Monoi Oil ☆
Initially, I really enjoyed this duo as it got the job done and was free from harsh chemicals. However, I found that after using this line for a couple months now (I'm currently on a second set), the hair and scalp near around my hairline that frames my face has become extremely dry to the point where I have to apply lotion or a deep conditioning mask.
Got 2 B Encore Fresh Dry Shampoo ☆☆☆
This is my all time favourite dry shampoo - it's effective in terms of product and packaging, and I haven't had any issues thus far. Plus, the scent is fresh and gender neutral so both my boyfriend an I can use it!
St. Ives Timeless Skin Mineral Clay Firming Mask ☆☆
This mask is quite old and although I really enjoy it, it's taken me quite a bit of time to finish it because it can get pretty messy and I would only apply it before hopping into the shower. The one super cool thing about this mask is that the pore tightening is instantaneous and you feel it working as it's drying.
AcneFree Oil-Free Acne Cleanser ☆☆☆
I absolutely love this product and I'm so glad that I got the chance to review it via Chick Advisor or I never would have discovered it. It's a very nice and gentle acne face wash that I always went back to whenever my face was acting up. I liked that it cleansed my face without drying it out or giving me that tightening feeling.
Bath and Body Works Hand Cream in Vanilla Bean Noel ☆☆
This hand cream is super moisturizing and smelled exactly like a vanilla bean frappuccino. The scent was a bit too sweet for me but I would definitely repurchase it in another scent.
Vichy Idealia Life Serum ☆☆
For the winter months, this serum from Vichy was a life savor as it provided the perfect amount of moisturization without making my face feel like an oil slick. This isn't a holy grail product for me though, so I wouldn't repurchase as I have a lot of other products to finish.
Maybelline Brow Drama in Soft Brown ☆☆☆
This is by far my favourite brow gel ever. I initially didn't like the brush, but after getting used to it, it provides a great natural effect on the brows, especially for someone like me who has super sparse brows. Unless I'm doing a full face of makeup, I'll just use this for my brows just to define them.
Wet n Wild Proline Felt Tip Eyeliner in Brown ☆
Of all my felt tip eyeliners, this one dried out the fastest and I found that it was hard to get a sharp wing as the ink didn't bleed all the way down to the tip.
CO Bigelow Apothecaries Vitamin Mentha Lip Balm ☆☆
I finally finished this lip balm, which I have been trying to do since my "Finish Five by Fall" post a couple years ago. It's a great minty lip balm, but I didn't often reach for it due to the sparkles.
La Fresh Waterproof Makeup Remover Wipe ☆
I really didn't like this makeup remover wipe because although it did it's job, it left my face feeling really sticky.
Essence Silky Touch Blush in Baby Doll ☆☆☆
I absolutely love essence's Silky Touch Blushes, but wish the packaging was 10x more durable. I've dropped the blush a couple times and the blush as well as the packaging shattered. I held onto it as long as I could, repressing it and attempting to depot it, but had to toss it in the end cause it was just too messy to use.

Have you ever repressed powder and how was the result? I find mine to get flakey :(.

Mildred's Temple Kitchen, located in Liberty Village, is famous for their brunch, so naturally I just had to make a pit stop here for brunch. The restaurant's decor is rustic and modern, making it very Instagram worthy. We came here for brunch on a Friday and the restaurant was quite busy, so reservations are definitely recommended if you plan on coming by on the weekend!  Upon being seated by our bubbly server, we ordered the Mrs. Biederhof's Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes, Big B'lunch Skillet, and the GINger Fizz to try out.

The GINger Fizz was an interesting hybrid between a regular gin and tonic and a mojito, using gin, ginger beer, lemon, and mint. The ginger is very powerful in this drink and punches the back of your throat in the first sip, but in a good way! Meanwhile, the mint and lemon slightly neutralizes the bitter gin aftertaste. If you like gin and ginger, I would definitely recommend giving this drink a try.
 Mildred's Temple Kitchen
Let me just start off by saying that I'm not a fan of pancakes, let alone blueberry pancakes. I'm very picky with cooked fruit and would rather go with chocolate chip pancakes if I had to, BUT I really did enjoy these blueberry pancakes. They're moist, dense, and fluffy at the same time, making them quite filling despite the seemingly small serving size. The blueberry compote that tops it off is to die for, and because there's blueberry compote, whipped cream, and a generous drizzle of syrup, these pancakes are perfect as served and do not require additional sweetness. So far, these truly are my favourite blueberry pancakes and I would definitely come back for these.
To balanced out the sweet with some savoury, we got the Big B'lunch Skillet, with spicy pulled pork, roasted onions, potatoes, black beans, two sunny side up eggs, and piri piri salsa. Following the delicious blueberry pancakes, this dish can be a bit underwhelming. I expected the skillet to be much larger based on the name, but it's diameter was about the length of my hand. The food itself was good, but I found that it was mostly potatoes and onions. It didn't quite meet our expectations nor did it satisfy our savoury tooth, so I think the next time we visit, we'll just stick to the blueberry pancakes.

Where's your favourite brunch place in the GTA?

There was once a time where I was obsessed with monthly beauty boxes. In fact, my addiction to them is what prompted me to start this blog! My crazy cat lady status combined with my new addiction to Dragon's Den (cause it became available on Netflix hehe) meant that I couldn't help but order one of the services that made it to the show: Meowbox. Meowbox is a Canadian monthly subscription for cat goodies, starting at $29.95 a month - you can choose to subscribe for every other month, or give a gift. Each box contains 4-6 items and comes with free shipping.
I ordered my box in February, so I ended up getting a Valentine's Day themed box as Meowbox has unique themes every month. I love that they add an individual touch by greeting your cats on the box!
Valentine's Meowbow
My box came with a postcard designed by Fiona (who is now my new favourite cartoonist!), along with some goodies such as Grain Free Tempting Salmon Treat by Nutrience and a Conversation Heart Wand by The Empurrium.
My box also contained three catnip toys: Will You Accept This Rose? by Le Sharma Trading, Love Letter by Housecat Club, and Kiss Me Lips by Crochet Kitty.

I like the idea of a monthly box for my cats, but I found that they didn't really like the items included in the box. They jumped at the Kiss Me Lips and Love Letter catnip toys, but after a day or two they got bored of it, while a catnip banana toy has kept them interested for about a month. They weren't interested in the Will You Accept This Rose? or Conversation Heart Wand toys at all. As for the treats, I think my cats are a bit confused as they won't eat it outright, but they'll eat it if I stick it in their wet food.

Considering all this, I cancelled my subscription because $30 a month or every two months can be a bit pricey if they're not going to enjoy everything in the box. For me, I think this is better off as a gift box rather than a subscription.
