For Canadian girls out there, eBeauty is a GREAT website to buy cosmetics from and they offer free shipping for purchases above $25. Earlier this year, eBeauty.ca had a wonderful makeup bag full of goodies for sale for their birthday and if you purchased the bag (or anything else from the site) during that time, you were entered to win 1 of 3 $300 gift certificates to eBeauty or 1 of 20 secondary prizes valued up to $175. Lucky for me, I was one of them! Check out what I got below :)
This year my mom was able to get me a ticket to this Fall's L'oreal Warehouse Sale in Toronto. Unfortunately, I was only able to go the last day. Most of the make-up products were gone except for the higher end brands like Lancome. There were various colognes and perfumes on sale for pretty cheap. I wish I got a Ralph Lauren big Pony 2 for women but they were sold out. Drug store shampoos and hair products were around $2-2.50 for 400 ml while the higher end brands like Redken were around $18 for 1L. i know a lot of people sell tickets to these events on craigslist or kijiji but I wouldn't recommend purchasing them unless you like to stock up these beauty products.
Here's what I got:
L'Oreal Nutri-Sleek 2in1 - $2.50
L'Oreal Paris The One Sweep in 820 Poppy - $4.50
Maybelline FitMe Blush in Coral Blossom - $3
Essie Nail Polishes - 5 for $24
From left to right: Ole Caliente, Bazooka, Camera, Mojito Madness, Sole Mate
For the longest time I wanted to get wayfarer style prescription glasses but didn't want to spend a whole lot of money on it. Thankfully, Clearly Contacts gives customers their first pair of eyeglasses for free! All you have to pay for is the shipping, handling and maybe lenses if you have a heavy prescription (like me T_T). I had to pay $40 for my lenses and that was only because I chose one lesser than the lens they recommended which was I believe $70. Shipping and handling is around $20 so if your prescription is between a 0-1.5 then I definitely recommend getting a back up pair to wear :). For those of you in the US, the website is Coastal.
Below are my Derek Cardigan 7003.
In the spirit of Halloween I decided to paint my nails orange. Sally Hansen has a beautiful Xtreme Wear orange in the shade Sun Kissed. I painted my last two nails to look like pumpkins to add a Halloween decoration instead of just the colour :). I hope you all do something fun and Halloween-y for your nails this month!
In September, one of the beauty boxes (I believe it was GlossyBox) emailed all it's members a $5 coupon for Trend Trunk.
Trend Trunk is kind of like eBay but for Canadians only. You can sell new or used items of clothing and accessories. There is no charge to sell, but if you purchase something, the company charges a flat rate of $8 for shipping.
I have no issue with buying used clothes (that's what brought back vintage clothing!) so I gave it a try and used my coupon and was NOT impressed whatsoever.
I purchased a chambray shirt for $10 plus $8 shipping for a total of $18. The transaction went through smoothly, but the shipping? Not so much.
As I was tracking my shipment, Canada Post stated that they couldn't find my address so the package was sent back to the seller.
I contacted Trend Trunk's customer service (because you can't contact the seller) for help on what I should do. They told me that the package was returned to the seller (no duh, I just emailed you stating that) and for me to verify my address, which was correct.
I was advised to change my 'name'. You see, on Trend Trunk, you don't have a separate name from the one you put in your personal information. I don't exactly want all the sellers out there to know my full name so I used initials instead. Trend Trunk said that Canada Post might not have shipped it because the name didn't match the address, although I highly doubt that since I get mail with various names shipped to my house with no issues.
After about a week, Trend Trunk then tells me again that the item was returned to the seller (as if I didn't know already), and gave me two options:
1) Get a $10 refund (without the shipping cost basically) and
2) Pay another $8 for shipping
EXCUSE ME? No, I don't think so. I already paid for my shipping and it's not my fault Canada Post couldn't find my address - even though I live in Toronto which is not hard to find at all. I emailed them back saying that I would like to get my product without any extra payment or a full refund and I got denied since it was my fault that the name was incorrect.
Needless to say, I called my credit card company and was issued a refund. I'm never using this site again and I can't even delete my Trend Trunk account (they don't currently give you that option).
Have you tried Trend Trunk? How was your experience?
