Revlon's Colorstay Gel Envy nail polishes ($6.99 each) are one of the few gel polishes in drug stores right now that don't require a curing light, but do need both a colour base and a top coat for the salon look. Thanks to recommendations from fellow bloggers, I got a couple and I'm in love. Today, I will be rockin' Wild Card.
The base color Wild Card is a muted royal purpleish blue - it's one of those difficult colors that change the more you look at it. I applied only one coat as it's very opaque and smooth. To top it off, I applied one coat of the Diamond Top Coat.

I'm really impressed with the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy line. Both polishes dry fairly quickly and I only needed one coat (!!!), which is amazing. I have the bad habit of applying additional coats before it fully dries and waking up to dented nail polish, but with these polishes I no longer have to worry. I look forward to Revlon releasing additional colours - and owning them all. Just take all my money. Seriously.

Have you tried any DIY gel polishes?

Another year gone, another year older, another Birthday Gift from Sephora!
This year’s birthday gift for Beauty Insiders contains two mini NARS Lip Pencils.
To be honest, I have never tried any of NARS’ lip products so this was a great way to start.
The two Lip Pencils in this year's Beauty Insider Birthday Gift:
Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella – scarlet red
Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien – rose pink
I love that you get two colours - a bold matte red and a sheer dusty rose, so the gift will suit any skin tone. These retail for $31 each, which is pretty pricey for a lippie, but you’re paying not only for the name but quality. The lip pencils are creamy and apply smoothly, with Cruella being super pigmented and Rikugien being sheer, shimmery and buildable. The swatches below contain one swipe for Cruella and two swipes for Rikugien.
I also love the packaging – it’s not pictured above but the top says “Happy Birthday, One Year Bolder”. I will be saving these lippies for special occasions since they’re the perfect size to throw in a clutch for touch-ups.

What’s your favourite NARS product?

I recently received AcneFree’s Oil-Free Acne Cleanser ($11.97) courtesy of Chick Advisor.
A little background on my acne:
I’ve always struggled with acne since I was in Grade 5 and it’s been an ongoing battle. With many visits to the dermatologist and numerous prescriptions, I’ve tried just about everything – from ointments to pills. At some point I gave up and let nature do its thing, praying that it was just “teenager” acne, and for the most part it was. A LOT of the products I experimented with left my skin really dry, one even peeled my skin off and the doctor recommended using SPF moisturizers every day (which is totally normal now, but in Grade 8, it was like extra homework). I still suffer from mild acne and sometimes will lay off foundation to prevent break outs.
AcneFree Oil-Free Acne Cleanser is a benzoyl peroxide lotion with hydrating ceramides. I was confused at first whether it was a cleanser or lotion, but after reading the directions it definitely is a cleaner. It’s a mild, gentle and unscented cleanser that lathers pretty well. It leaves my skin feeling soft and clean, WITHOUT feeling dry. I can literally wash my face with this and not apply moisturizer and my skin would be fine. Okay you got me, I’ve done it a couple times already.

Regarding its effectiveness, I would say it’s pretty darn effective. My skin improved in just a couple days of using this wash, changing nothing else in my skin care routine. As noted above, a couple days of wearing foundation will break me out, but I wore foundation for just about a week and I didn’t have any major breakouts like I usually did. I recently went on a trip to California and either the atmosphere or the water there completely ruined my skin – I’m not even kidding, my skin was so dry and I had so many breakouts, especially around my chin. I used this cleanser when I got back and I believe it helped in restoring my skin.
I would definitely recommend this cleanser if you have acne prone and sensitive skin. The one thing I would change about it is the squeeze dispenser, I wish it had a pump dispenser instead.

What's your current cleanser? How do you like it?

I've always had an issue with finishing products. My dirty little secret is that the only beauty product I've ever finished is moisturizer. The rest I usually toss, lose or break. Hopefully this tag will break that trend!

Guidelines (by Angela):
1. Pick 5 items (extras are okay) that you want to try to use up
2. You have until the first day of fall- September 23 to make as much progress as you can
3. Make an update post about halfway through and a final reveal on September 23!
4. I'll be using #cbbfinish5 to track my progress, and I'd love for you to use the same!
5. Good luck and have fun! Hope you'll rediscover favorites or just clean out some space in your collection ;)

I was browsing the aisles in search of a dry shampoo and noticed the new Pantene's Root Reboot Dry Shampoo ($4.96). Unfortunately, this dry shampoo didn't reach my expectations. (Sorry for the stock photo, but I was pretty upset at the product and threw it in the trash right away LOL).
The first time I used this, it worked really well! The scent was fresh and it made my hair look less greasy, but it left a slight white film in my hair - nothing that couldn't be fixed with a quick brush out.
The second time I used it, I noticed the product wasn't spraying evenly and was more streamed than misty. It still worked though so I didn't think anything of it.
The third time however, I couldn't use it at all - something had clogged the spray. I quickly turned to Google and tried all the recommended methods, including using a pin to clear the hole and running the nozzle under hot water. Nothing worked, nada! So that's why it's now in the trash. I thought maybe I had a defective can, but the several consumers reviews on the Pantene website have the same issue, so be warned if you were thinking of trying this one out!

What's your favourite dry shampoo? Mine has to be ones from Batiste and Got2B!

Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure nail polishes ($7.97 each) launched quite some time ago and I received a couple, courtesy of Influenster. I love minty greens and blues on nails, especially for Spring and Summer, which is exactly what Jaded is - a muted mint green with blue-grey undertones. I decided to pair this with a clear and sparkly accent nail.

I found that Jaded goes on pretty sheer - my nails have 3 coats applied. This isn't the case for the whole Complete Salon line, some of the darker colours are really opaque. The polish goes on smoothly and hides my cracked and chipped nails pretty well, which is a big plus. The lasting power of this polish is about 3-4 days before it starts chipping - but I'm also guilty of picking at my nails.

What's your favourite Spring/Summer nail colour?
