Pink Petals

I've been too swamped with work and school to continue my blog, but I'm going to try and juggle all three. With that being said, I missed out on last month's Ipsy post so I will combine both the May and June bags here! So let's get started :)
May Ipsy Bag
Pacifica | Luminizing Body Butter (Coconut Crushed Pearl)
Full Size: 58 ml ($7)
NuMe | Finishing Serum
Size: 10 ml ($4.92)
Full Size: 59 ml ($29)
Zoya | Polish (Jacquelin)
Full Size : $8.75
Juice Beauty | Lipgloss (Fig)
Full Size: .14 oz ($7.50)
Yaby | Concealer Refill (Buff)
Size: 3.5 g ($4.85)

Total May Ispy Bag Value: $33.02

I really like the May Ipsy bag because the contents cover makeup, skincare / body and hair. I like that the lip gloss isn't a plumping gloss, which is something I don't ever use.The polish is a pretty cream colour, which I think looks awesome alongside a tan this summer. I'm most excited about the Yaby concealer. I want to see if it provides good coverage. I still haven't found a good enough powder concealer to cover my blemishes :(.

June Ipsy Bag
Chella | Ivory Lace Highlighter
Size 1.4 g ($18)
(Not sure if this is full size)
JCat Beauty | Eye lashes
$3.99
JCat Beauty | Sparkling Cream Palette (Volta)
Full Size: 3 g ($4.49)
Starlooks | Lipliner (Bare)
Full Size: 2.4 g ($12)
Nyx | Mosaic Powder (Cafe)
Full Size: 5.7 g ($10.99)
Baublebar Bracelet - for 2 referrals

June Ipsy Bag Value: 49.47

Overall, I'm not impressed with this month's Ipsy bag. The palette has HUGE chunks of glitter that is meant for the face, not the eyes. But since I'm not Ke$ha nor a Cullen, I don't think I'll be rocking the glitter any time soon. I'm also disappointed to see a pack of false lashes and lipliner, both of which I never use. I really wish Ipsy would include those two in their quizzes. My favourite thing in this bag is the bracelet, which I got for referring two people, ironic eh?

What do you think the pallette would be useful for? (Don't say Halloween! :P)

Another monthly beauty box that started out well, but... Well, you know the rest. I'm sad to see Glossy Canada disappear and was hoping they would make a big comeback this year. Unfortunately, it won't be happening any time soon. After a month of payment issues and lack of shipping or tracking updates, Glossy subscribers were sent this email:
A Glossy Goodbye
Dear customers and friends,

We apologize sincerely for the recent lack of communication and are very sorry that we were unable to respond with an announcement sooner.

We want to thank you for being a member of the GLOSSYBOX community. We are so happy that you have chosen to discover beauty with us, as we have immensely enjoyed introducing our favorite products to you. However, sometimes good things must come to an end. Due to various reasons, we regret to inform you that all services for GLOSSYBOX Canada will be suspended from May onwards.

Please find pertinent information about your GLOSSYBOX account below:

- We will not be shipping a May Box. Those who have been charged for the order will be reimbursed.
- We are in the process of reimbursing members with fixed-term subscriptions (for example, if you signed up for a 6-month subscription in March) on a pro-rated basis.

Thank you for your support throughout the past year and beyond. We hope you enjoyed your journey with us. We wish you joy and all the best in the future.

If you have any questions or concerns about your GLOSSYBOX account, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service desk at contact@glossybox.ca.

Best wishes,

The GLOSSYBOX Canada Team

As per my last post, Glymm has declared bankruptcy. With this happening, I'm sure many beauty box subscribers have doubted the reliability of such companies, but there is one who would like to save the day. 1 x China Glaze For Audrey (best selling China Glaze ever!)

1 x mini Tend Skin

Just a quick update for those who are wondering what the heck happened to Glymm. Glymm has finally posted that they are shutting down their company for good. We all knew this was coming with their horrible service and delayed boxes. Unfortunately, Glymm has cut off all ties to social media sites and can only be contacted by email. Glymm did not address whether refunds will be issued or not, so for those who have pending boxes or months left in your subscription, please contact your credit card companies so they can take action ASAP. I've taken a screen picture from Glymm's post on Facebook before they deleted their page, so feel free to use it as proof. Hope you all get your money back!

Flare and H&M recently had a little event in Toronto and I was lucky enough to win tickets to go from Flare. One of the Toronto H&M's were closed to the public for the evening while those who were invited to the event got to go and shop with a 15% discount on regular priced items. This event was to promote the new program H&M launched which gives you the option to donate clothing (in any condition and form) and in return, you will receive a coupon for $5 off your next purchase of $30. The event was nice, with cupcakes and sparkling juice or wine served while you shopped. Unfortunately, I didn't purchase anything. I don't quite like shopping in such a large crowed cramped into a small store. The lineups for the change rooms were out the door and with the crowd, I couldn't find anything because I spent the night trying not to get pushed around. I did, however, receive a goody bag in the end that I'd like to share :).

I loved the goody bag but can't wear these earrings because of my sensitive ears. So... I'm going to be giving them away! :) This giveaway will be open from April 14 12am EST to May 4 12am EST. Good luck ladies!

I wasn't sure if I was getting a box this month because I unsubscribed in January and didn't know when they charged for the next box. I received some emails regarding shipping but still haven't even received the tracking information for this box. I went to get the mail anyways and there it was! Here's what I got in this month's Luxe Box.
Bourjois | Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation (53-Light Beige)
Full size: 30 ml ($27)
Sample: 3 x 0.95 ml ($2.56)
Pandora's Makeup Box | Mascara (Black)
Full size: 10 ml ($19)
Sample: FULL SIZE
 Coach | Coach Love
Full size: 1.7 oz ($72)
Sample: 0.22 oz ($9.32)
Loose Button | Sponge Applicator
Estimated Value: $5
Lancome | Genifique You Activating Concentrate
Full size: 1 oz ($95)
Sample: 0.27 oz ($25.65)
KMS California | Free Shape Quick Blowdry
Full size: 6.8 oz ($18)
Sample: 1 oz ($2.65)
L'Occitane en Provence | Shea Butter Hand Cream
Full size: 30 ml ($12)
Sample: 10 ml ($4)

Total Value: $68.18

Gahh. After seeing some other Luxe Boxes that subscribers received this month, I was so hoping that I didn't pay for this one. Too bad I did, I'm so disappointed. The only things I like in this box are the mascara and the perfume. I really really REALLY hate anti-aging serums and creams, which happened to be the one thing that was most valuable in this box. You may be wondering why I only gave the sponge a value of $5, it's because I ordered a 'beauty blender' style sponge on eBay for $2 and I can't tell the difference between the two. *Sigh* I feel like beauty boxes are quickly going downhill, boo :(.

Which beauty box was your favourite this month?

I've decided to try and attempt chevron nails without using tape because it can be hard cutting tape without it sticking together. I looked around my room and found those hole punch stickers which I never ever use. Turns out that they're really good because you can use the edges as a guide to cut the corners and will almost always end up with the perfect V. I finally remembered to take pictures along the way to share how I did it. So here are my results and picture tutorial :).
Nicole OPI - Kim Konfidential (Kim Kardishian)
Julep - Niecy

How to cut the stickers:
The base should be completely dry before you put the stickers on. If the stickers don't fully reach to the side of your nail, stretch the sticker so that the V is wide. Then put a thin layer on top of the stickers because a thick layer will take very long to dry, and it must be COMPLETELY dry when you take off the stickers or else the colour contorts.
It might look choppy at first but a layer of clear polish will smooth it out :)

Hope this picture tutorial worked for you :)

My boyfriend recently purchased a Julep gift card for me when they had the buy $50 for $25 promo so I was waiting to spend some of it in the Secret Store since the gift cards are not valid on subscriptions. Julep's Secret Store is open on the 1st of every month an contain a lot of good package deals. The catch is that the store is "supposed" to be only open for those who purchased that month's subscription box. Sneaky me, I got into it without the subscription >:) hehe. Once in, the Pastel Paradise immediately caught my eye, especially since Easter and Spring are soon approaching and I can't wait! :) Here's what was included in the Pastel Paradise set.
Sample: Glycolic Hand Scrub
Sally - American Beauty: Antique ivory crème
Renee - American Beauty: Spring lilac crème

Courteney - American Beauty: Key lime green crème
Georgia - Boho Glam: Peachy micro shimmer
Susie - Classic With A Twist: Delicious mint green crème

What was your best deal at the Secret Store?
And it might be just me, but does anyone else miss the glitter pots? They were so cute!

This week I kept it simple with Julep's Lynn and Sally Hansen's Golden-I for my accent nail. When I initially saw Lynn, I wasn't very fond of the colour because it seemed like a sheer and shimmery pink. I hate polishes that go on sheer because it looks so nice in the bottle but takes 10 coats on the nails for the same colour. Lynn proved me wrong, I only needed 2 coats of Lynn to make it opaque and the colour is a gorgeous nude-pink. I've never been so in love with a pink before and am so glad I got this in Cupid's Mystery Box.
I've been looking for a good nude/natural nail colour but can't seem to find one, any suggestions?

Spring is right around the corner and I think transitioning from deep to vibrant polishes is the best way to start off the season! Here I am wearing My Lifesaver by OPI which is a beautiful opaque mint blue. On my ring finger, I drew a cherry blossom branch, mimicking Arizona's Green Tea design.
These are all the polishes I used to create this simple look.

I used Revlon's Calcium Gel Hardener as a base and followed with OPI's My Lifesaver. For the design, draw the branches using a black striper. Next, I got the tip of a toothpick and dotted flower petals and buds on the branches with Sally Hansen's Rose-a-go-go. I then used OPI's Studio Mama to make small little white dots on the buds to add detail and also in the center of the flowers. This was for the next step, which was to dot the center of the flowers with a yellow polish, mine was sheer so the white/pink base helped the colour pigmentation. Finish off with your favourite top coat :)

What's your go-to Spring nail colour?

Last week, Pink Beryl emailed Loose Button past and present subscribers and offered a free pair of stockings for 24 hours. I jumped on the chance and was amazed that when they meant free, they literally meant free! No shipping charges or additional monthly purchases needed. For those who don't know, Pink Beryl is a monthly subscription for stockings where you can choose 1 pair a month ($12) or 2 pairs a month ($20). To determine your style, you take a quiz when you sign up, but don't fret if it doesn't match you because you always have the option to choose from a list of styles :).
At first, I thought that $12 for a pair of stockings was kind of pricey because I always buy the cheaper kind since I'm so accident prone and end up tearing all my stockings. However, after getting my first order from Pink Beryl, I might subscribe when I start making money again because these stockings are AMAZING! When I opened the package, I was surprised to see that there were clear and black rhinestones on the stockings. The picture of Olivia that Pink Beryl had seemed like it just had random white dots. They're not too thin and not too thick and don't seem like they're going to rip on my any time soon. I really like these tights and think they're so much cuter more unique than the plain ol' black stockings.

Have you tried Pink Beryl before? If you're interested, please use my referral link here, please and thank you! :)

Here is the highly anticipated anniversary Glossy Box:

Elite Models | Intensity Eye Pencil
Full Size: 1.1 g ($14.99)
Sample: FULL SIZE
Biore | Deep Cleansing Pore Strips - Ultra
Full Size: 6 piece ($9.99)
Sample: FULL SIZE
Eucerin | Hyal-Urea Anti-Wrinkle Day/Night Cream Sachet Duo

Sample: 3 ml ($1.11)
Macadamia Natural Oil | Healing Oil Treatment
Full Size: 30 ml ($13.50)
Sample: FULL SIZE
Crabtree & Evelyn | Tarocco Orange Eucalyptus & Sage Ultra Moisturizing Hand Therapy Sachet
Full Size: 25 g ($8.00)
Sample: 5 g ($1.60)

Total Value: $48.18

I'm bitter-sweet about this box. Is it good? Yes, compared to the last couple boxes. Could it have been better? Definitely. Considering Glossy didn't go big the Christmas/December box, I thought that the anniversary box would be phenomenal, but it was okay to me. My favourite products are the Essence eyeshadows, the Elite Model eyeliner and the Macadamia oil. I'm not a fan of creams , especially anti-wrinkles. I'm not too amazed with the Biore strips either, I find that they only work half the time.

Which subscription box was your favourite this month?
