Pink Petals

Chocolats Favoris is a Montreal based chocolate shop that has slowly crossed it's Quebec borders, opening a several shops in Ontario and one in British Columbia. Their Vaughan located opened up last year, which is currently the one of two locations in the GTA, and I couldn't wait to head over and visit!
Chocolats Favoris
Like their name states, Chocolats Favoris specializes in chocolate, containing a plethora of chocolates and fondues. The fondues are so easy to make and are to die for - simply heat the can in a water bath until the chocolate is melted! These can also be purchased at select grocery stores, so you don't have to visit a Chocolats Favoris store for one of these bad boys, but the selection may be more limited. Each location also has an ice cream counter where you can get interesting dipped soft serve cones, sundaes, and milkshakes! For the dipped soft serve cones, there are a handful of  combinations to choose from, starring each of the flavoured dips that they have, or you could make your own.
Chocolats Favoris
This was my second time being at Chocolats Favoris, and based on both experiences I would advise on choosing a dark chocolate base instead of a milk or white chocolate base, and getting a cone rather than a cup. It sounds silly to give advice on a dipped cone, but Chocolats Favoris takes it to another level. The chocolate dip surrounding the ice cream is THICC, literally. Because the chocolate layer is so thick, a fairly sweet milk or white chocolate can taste overly sweet when combined with toppings and vanilla soft serve. However, I'm the type of girl who can't handle cake and ice cream together, so if you've got a giant sweet tooth, go for it, cause you do you, booboo. Also, when the thick layer of chocolate dip hardens, it's actually quite difficult to bite into it without making a mess, rendering a spoon useless - which is where the cone over cup comes into play.

All in all, I can never say no to ice cream, and Chocolats Favoris is no different. Their chocolates and fondues are also really yummy, making them a great addition to gifts or gift baskets.

What's your favourite thing to dip in chocolate fondue?
Mine are apple slices! They hold well so they don't require fondue forks, and provide just the right amount of sweetness to compliment the chocolate.

Oko Creations is a Montreal based company, creating eco-friendly and conscientiously sourced products for babies and women, while also trying to minimize waste as these are sold without any packaging. With an increase in consumer conscientiousness about waste and it's impact on the Earth, I couldn't resist but jump at the opportunity to try some eco-friendly products from Oko Creations, and see how easily they could be incorporated into my daily life.

I decided to test out the reusable Makeup Removal Pads ($1.80 each) because although I don't use cotton pads to remove my makeup, I do use them at least once  a day to apply toner.
Oko Creations Makeup Removal Pads
Right off the bat, I noticed that these Makeup Removal Pads are much larger than regular cotton pads, providing more coverage. These pads are made of hemp fleece (55% hemp and 45% organic cotton), making them quite soft. Because of this, these pads might be ideal for someone who has sensitive skin and find regular cotton pads a bit too abrasive. The pads are quite thick and are double weaved, preventing tears, and also allowing you to use each side separately if you wanted. One concern of mine was that the toner solution would be absorbed into the pad before I was finished, but this was not an issue at all as the pad does a pretty good job in retaining the toner on top. Maintaining these pads is really simple as well - either hand wash them, or pop them in the wash in a linen bag to prevent losing them!

Overall, I'm really happy about these reusable Makup Removal Pads - they're a great sustainable and durable alternative to the cotton pad, and they won't make a dent in your wallet. If you're interested in purchasing these pads, check out Oko's website to order online or find a retailer near you! Speaking of which, I have to go get some more to last me a week :).

How do you remove your makeup? With a facial cloth, cotton pad, or reusable cloth?

Another Clean fragrance review, because I am absolutely in love with this brand! Not only do they have amazing and versatile scents, they are also cruelty-free and are formulated without a bunch of consumer conscious ingredients such as sulfates and parabens. This time, Fresh Linens ($95) is stealing the show, with notes of: Clean Sheet Accord, Rain Lily, and Skin Musk.
 Clean Fresh Linens
I initially didn't think I would like this scent because I'm not a fan of Demeter's Laundromat or BBW's Sheer Cotton, but I ended up really enjoying this scent. Like most Clean scents, it is light, fresh, and clean smelling with a hint of citrus, making it easy on the nose without being too aggressive. I also like that it's a neutral and natural scent, catering to various scent categories, making it a great transition scent for someone who is looking for something new.

This is probably so redundant in all my Clean fragrance reviews, but it's a great office and everyday scent. I have literally been rotating between this scent and the Skin scent since early June, even though my regular coconut based scents would be perfect this time of year, it doesn't match the office vibe as well as Fresh Linens does.

When I was younger, I used to hate the smell of lavender - its super potent and floral smell would sting my nose, making me wrinkle it in dislike. But oh do things change! I now LOVE the smell of lavender and wish I could carry the scent with me everywhere I go. So naturally, I had to visit a lavender farm this Summer, especially with them blowing up my Instagram.
 Weir's Lane Lavender & Apiary
I initially wanted to visit Terre Bleu's lavender farm, with it's enticing yellow door, but found that the admission price has doubled within the past year to $20 due to popularity. $20 may not seem a lot to some people, but at the end of the day, you're really just paying to see flowers - well that's my perspective. So I kept looking up other nearby lavender farms and stumbled upon Weir's Lane Lavender and Apiary located in West Flamborough, about a 15 minute drive from Hamilton.
For an admission price of $2, Weir's Lane Lavender and Apiary is yours to discover! This includes free parking, an information pamphlet, and a coupon to redeem at the gift shop. There are two small lavender fields, one in the front and one on the side, with both English and French lavenders grown. There's also four bee hives in between the two fields, with many bees working their bumble butts off - so don't worry if you hear a buzzing! (This is also something to note if you or anyone you are going with are terrified of bees). At the end of the path, there is the small little gift shop full of lavender goodies for sale where you can use your coupon ($5 off $20, and 10% off Tues-Sat). I used my coupon to buy some lavender buds for my DIY bath soaks and bath bombs.
I'm really happy that I went to Weir's Lane Lavender and Apiary because it was a short and sweet trip that covered everything I wanted to do at a lavender farm. Plus it gave us an opportunity to explore Hamilton and grab a bite to eat there after.

Winky Lux is a small and fairly new cosmetic company known for their cute (Kawaii) and unique packaging, sold predominately in the US market... UNTIL NOW! Winky Lux will be launching in Canada, selling exclusively at Murale and beautyboutique.ca starting in August.
Winky Lux Flower & Glimmer Balm
With colour changing lip balms becoming more and more of a trend, Winky Lux has created their own line. Winky Lux's Flower Balm ($18) closely resembles the Kailijumei Flower Jelly Lipstick, with a small flower encased in a clear balm that changes to the pH levels of your skin to a pink suitable for your skin tone. The Glitter Balm ($18) seems to be the exact same as the Flower Balm, but instead of a flower to decorate the balm, it is infused with fine glitter to give that glimmer effect.
Winky Lux Flower & Glimmer Balm Swatch
Now, I've heard a lot of mixed reviews of colour changing balms, both in general and of Winky Lux's. But, it's important to note that these are in fact balms and not lipsticks - so the colour and pigmentation of the balm is sheer in nature but buildable to a certain point. For the swatches, I swiped each lipstick about 5 times and as you can see, the Flower Balm turned out to be a bit more red toned than the Glimmer Balm which is more pink toned. As for durability, again, these are balms so they do not last as long, but they do leave a slight tint remaining and they didn't leave my lips feeling dry or sticky when applied.

I'm quite impressed with Winky Lux's colour changing balms and think they are perfect for everyday use, especially if you prefer a balms over lipsticks, or a natural look.
