EVENT + GIVEAWAY {CLOSED} - IMATS Toronto 2014 Recap

by - November 24, 2014

This year was my first year going to IMATS and it definitely will not be my last.
I expected IMATS to be more of a convention where beauty enthusiasts came to learn about the application of make up, but it seemed like a huge warehouse sale, similar to the one at the CNE. There were shows on the stages throughout the day, but it was hard to watch them all because the first half of the day consisted in standing in line to ensure you got your purchases before stands sold out, which they definitely did. There was also a lot of pushing and shoving, not much system going on around the booths. I think MAC had the best system where you were given a number with your name so you could cash out whenever. Make Up Forever did a name call, which if you didn't hear your name your product would go back, and it was pretty hard to hear your name among the chatter.

Keep reading to see what I purchased, the booths that stood out to me and the giveaway!

Morphe story:
When I was waiting in line for MAC, I was talking to a girl and she was so enthusiastic about the Morphe booth so I was determined to check it out. I knew I wanted a blush palette and a couple brushes. My friend was unsure and asked the sales associate to recommend some brushes, such as best sellers. I had already paid for my palette and was walking around looking at brushes with my friend. She asked the sales associate for a fluffy blending brush for eye shadows and  the sales associate gave her one, and she asked if there was a fluffier and rounder one and the sales associates response was "Look, you asked me for the best seller and that's what I'm giving you. It all about perspective, but this is a best seller. If you want something different then you can look."
Well then. Okay.
My friend ended up with 4 brushes and was told the total was $34, so she counted her change and it didn't add up. She asked me to count the change and it was indeed wrong.
So we told her she short changed us and another sales associate came to help, but the total was now $38. We said sorry and explained to the other sales associate we thought she said $34 and that's why we thought we were short, meanwhile she kept interjecting "No, honey. I told you it was $38. We went over it a couple times. I never said $34."
Well, yes, you did.
The second sales associate apologized about the miscommunication and we were on our way. I was going to buy some Morphe brushes too but decided bdellium tools was less troublesome.
